Getting to know… Hayley Paterson, PR manager

We’re as renowned for our people as we are for our tech. So, once a month, we put a member of our team in the spotlight to learn more about their role, why they’re good at it, and what their advice is for the wider world of marketing…

1. Summarise your role in one paragraph

I handle all of SoAmpli’s media relations and overall PR activity as well as help to populate the blog. I also make sure our social channels are working as hard as they possibly can when helping our brilliant customers.

2. What’s your favourite part of the job?

Showcasing SoAmpli’s values through engaging content. It’s such a clever platform which really inspires employees to come together and share each other’s successes – and break through the constant online noise. So, it’s easy for me to turn its capabilities into blogs and social posts that people want to read, rather than scroll past.

3. Which one word would your colleagues use to describe you?

Hard-working.

4. And the word you think best describes SoAmpli?

Savvy.

5. Why do you personally think SoAmpli stands out from competitors?

Typically, many sharing platforms on the market often come with an insanely populated dashboard which only serves one purpose – seemingly to give you a crazy headache!

What I love about SoAmpli is that you’re instantly met with a simple, slick newsfeed that’s easy to navigate and not blasting you with a million different posts all at once. It’s easy to share content from, plus users can schedule and upload posts in seconds too which is a major plus point for busy professionals.

6. The phone rings and it’s your dream client… who would it be?

Manchester United! Although I’m a big sports fan so any similar organisations or clubs would be amazing. I also love giving back, so I’m thrilled we’ve so many charities on our books – and long may that continue!

7. What’s your favourite feature within SoAmpli’s platform?

I would have to say our Leaderboard. It’s a brilliant way to promote a spot of healthy competition! It also helps me to understand which social posts are achieving the strongest engagement thanks to the ‘clicks’, ‘reach’ and ‘shares’ analysis. That’s been a tremendous help towards reshaping and tweaking content to make sure we’re continuing to deliver the best comms possible.

8. Companies often talk about their company culture, how can SoAmpli help with employee engagement?

Seeing that a colleague has shared your post is a great feeling because it’s a brilliant way of promoting our brand message and widening our networks even further. It’s fantastic to know that we can all share one another’s posts and create a strong content hub.

9. What is the biggest challenge facing the social media industry over the next 12 months?

Maintaining trust with customers. There’s no question that people buy from people so it’s proving difficult for many brands to break through the noise and deliver messaging that ‘sticks’. Organisations must continue to be honest with their comms and keep building up strong relationships online through authenticity.

10. And your top social selling hack?

Don’t overly sell your product or service – it’s a total turn-off! You’ll see that posts don’t land particularly well with customers and prospects when it’s all about the company rather than the people it’s trying to serve.

I’d advise enterprises to build content that provides advice, top tips and thought-leadership so that it encourages people to click through, or find out more about what the business can offer.
