On Thursday 10 December, our very own Maz had the pleasure to participate in the #RealTalk Twitter chat with Jeff Barrett, in collaboration with the Real Time Academy and the Shorty Awards!

Jeff is a Forbes Top 50 Social Media Influencer, the CEO of Status Creative, and the Best Business Blogger of 2015’s Shorty Awards, which every year celebrate the people and organisations that produced the best social media content on channels like Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, Vine, Foursquare, and Pinterest.

Since 2009, Maz has been part of the panel of judges for the event, which includes experienced influencers, celebrities and successful individuals. Just to name a few, the panel includes Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Arianna Huffington, and the founder of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales. The Shorty Awards will be streamed live on the event’s website, so make sure you tune in when the time comes! In the meantime, you can follow Jeff’s chats on Twitter every Thursday at 1 pm ET.

During their highly engaging Twitter chat, Maz and Jeff discussed content marketing and how the sharing economy is changing the way brands communicate. They analysed the current state of content, focusing on how companies are trying to humanise their brand, and how empowering employees to craft social media messages in their own, authentic voice is positively influencing customer perception. It’s all about building relationships!

It was great to see so many people taking part in the conversation around employee advocacy, one of the hottest mega trends in marketing which we are proud to be part of.
